Zurich, Switerland
We arrive in Zurich around noon, confused and hungry. Little did we know we picked the third most wealthy country in the world. So that budget started to get stretched a wee bit. First thing first we needed food. Down the street from the central train station was a store called the Coop which sold delicious bratwurst served with a hunk of bread for only 7 Franks, the currency of Switzerland. Feeling slightly better we made our way to the hotel. About a half hour later, we walked trying to save money on cabs, we got to our home for the next three nights. It was a nice small room with two twin beds pushed together for the five of us and the next day six because one Sigma Chi met us there. Lindsay and I checked all of us in and slowly the rest of the group filed in after. After needed showers we headed back towards downtown, a quicker walk because we finally didn't have our backpacks. Zurich is located on the tip of Lake Zurich and one of the most beautiful places I have ever traveled to. Being one of the worlds largest financial centers private banks lined the streets. With curtains drawn at all times for the management of secrecy it gave the city an edge of mystery. "Zurich was named the city with the best quality of life in the world as well as the wealthiest city in Europe" and this was very apparent. Audi cars we some of the most common and almost seemed low end. High end cars such as Maserati's, Porsche's and Aston Martin's were seen almost every five cars. Michael of course was dying.
We ventured down to the lake and walked around over the many beautiful bridges and did some window shopping. Switzerland is known for having some great chocolate and I can attest to that. Grossmunster Church, built in Roman style resides along the Limmit River and was founded by Charlemangne was one of the first churches we came across as we blindly wandered threw the city. After a couple more hours of exploring we found our selves getting tired fast. We grabbed another bratwurst bread combo and headed back to the hotel. We grabbed a few bottles of wine from the Coop grocery store and drank those in the room and laughed for hours talking in funny voices and cracking jokes. The best was when we read these different facebook comments on someones picture and Michael was the women's voice and Christina was all the rest, haven't laughed so hard in a while. That night we smushed all five of us in that small bed, curdled together to keep from falling off. We made Michael sleep in the middle. Not one of the more comfy sleeps.
